Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,

who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again

to a living hope

through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled

and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you,

 who are kept by the power of God through faith

 for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. (1 Pe 1:3-5)

Are you disappointed?  Two days after Christmas – honestly, many people are this way…and will be this way.  Expectations are let down, realities have fallen short and many more such things….but disappointment is the result.   

In one sense, that should not be surprising…by its very nature, our world is disappointing.  Instead of focusing on that – can I simply tell you – this is not how it will always be.   God has a far better plan for us who are in Christ with our eternal inheritance.  Consider the descriptions of what heaven will be like:

Incorruptible – it will never go away.  Everything in this world can be and will be messed up.  Things in this world can be ruined, broken or taken (Mat 6:19).  Many an expensive Christmas present has already moved into this category.  But heaven – cannot be messed up!  Yeah!  

Undefiled – the idea is that there is no hidden print, no ugly side to it.   Every “too good to be true” offer in this world…is just that – too good to be true.  But not heaven – there is no downside, no hidden print that robs the reality promised.

Doesn’t fade – never gets old or boring.  Everything in this world does.  Many a kid is already bored with the new toy that they so rejoiced over only two days ago.  Pleasure in this life – fades, it does not last.  The new car, quickly becomes the old car we are dissatisfied with.  Heaven will never be boring!  

Reserved for you – if you are Christ’s – then nothing can rob you of this hope you have laid before you in heaven.  Your reservations are secure – and He is securing you.  This is a solid hope, or better put – confidence you can have today.

Do you have this heavenly expectation?  It is for those who have been “Born again” through Christ.  If you have not – can I plead with you to surrender to the Lord and be born again.  Please e-mail me if you have questions on this.

If you have been born again – this is your future.  I simply plead with you to enjoy the “living hope” that is in this for you.  The idea is that this should encourage you today in this fallen world…knowing better things are to come.

Truly – for me – I join the first words of these verses – and bless God for the hope that is alive in me today – because of Christ!
