So the ransomed of the Lord shall return,

And come to Zion with singing,

With everlasting joy on their heads.

They shall obtain joy and gladness;

Sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

(Is 51:11)

Heaven is real…and heaven is coming.  Today, I want to remind you of the reality that is before us.

For those who are “ransomed”, heaven is coming.

the ransomed of the Lord shall return

Ransomed means to be redeemed, rescued…to be saved.   If you are a Christian, then this is a promise for you.  If you are not a Christian, we appeal to you to surrender your heart to the Lord and be saved.  Eternity is coming…for Christians, it will be heaven; for those who reject Christ, it will be hell.  Both are real…and both are coming.

For the Christian, again, I want to remind you – heaven is coming!

In Heaven you will be singing!

And come to Zion with singing,

Picture it, with overwhelming and wonderful delighting ourselves in God – singing to Him with all our might!

In Heaven you will be joyful!

With everlasting joy on their heads.

In heaven…joy that is everlasting will be upon us.  Joy that lasts forever!  Not a fleeting moment…but an eternal joy!

In Heaven you will obtain joy and gladness!

They shall obtain joy and gladness;

Focus on that word “shall”, it is not a maybe, not a might – but a sure thing.  If you are a Christian, know that this is yours…you will possess this, obtain this.

In Heaven sorrow and sighing will be no more!

Sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

Life here, dealing with this world, sin, self and more – often bring sorrow, depression, and sighing.   You can almost feel those words, can you not?   A sigh of disappointment, frustration fear escaping our lips for so many reasons.  In heaven…that will never be our experience again…those are gone!

Christian, pray for this!

In light of these promises right here – perhaps you can pray with passion the prayer that Jesus taught us.

Pray for heaven!

Your kingdom come.. (Mt 6:10)

It is right to pray that prayer, it is right to consider what is coming in heaven and long for it. Today, I call you to look at what heaven will be…and long for it and pray for it.   Hear me clearly…it is coming, it is not a vain promise – but a sure thing!

Pray for heavenly living!

Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven. (Mt 6:10)

The simple idea is this – as you see what heaven will be, the wonder of the life that will be ours, that we should be praying that we could be living a little more down here – like we are going to be living in heaven.  Praying for holiness, obedience and more.   What makes heaven truly heaven – is we will fully walk and live in His will   Perhaps today, you could look at this promise of what heaven will be in Isaiah – and delight that such a time is coming…and ask the Lord to lead you to live a little of that joy now.  That is what I want today.

With everlasting joy on their heads.

They shall obtain joy and gladness;

Sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

(Is 51:11)
