“For I am the Lord, I do not change;

Therefore you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob.

Yet from the days of your fathers

You have gone away from My ordinances And have not kept them.

Return to Me, and I will return to you,” Says the Lord of hosts.’

(Mal 3:6-7)

“If you are distant from God, guess who moved?”

Today, I ask you to consider the accuracy and the guidance of this, perhaps familiar, quote. 

God does not change!

“For I am the Lord, I do not change…

God is altogether different than we are.   He never has a bad day.  God is never moody or grumpy or even apathetic.   God is the same, today and forever.  There is a wonderful solidness to this.   More than that, there is a firm confidence that those who seek to be close to Him can have today – on His part, He is altogether faithful.   If there is distance between you and God today – it is not because He has altered, failed or pulled away…He is faithful and does not change!  

If there is distance today, we moved.

…You have gone away…

Maybe it sounds harsh, but it is not.   If there is distance today between you and God, you don’t have to worry at all about His faithfulness, you don’t have to wonder if God has changed His mind about you or such things.  You can simply know that the distance comes from something you have done.  One of the benefits to this simple understanding is that it can cause you to focus quickly and look for what you have done.  This is so different than in human relationships, when there is distance – we can wonder if it is something we did…or something they have done.  With God…if there is distance, the problem is us. 

God is calling us to return.

Return to Me…

Hear the heart of God today.   If there is distance between you and God – you moved.  Yet God in His love and faithfulness is calling you to return to Him. God wants you to return – I promise.

God wants you to know – the distance can be closed

and I will return to you

 He promises you that if you return to Him, He is there waiting.  He will in a sense, return to you (although He never really moved).  God wants you to know if you are distant from Him, He is desiring you to return…and if you do, that distance and separation will go away…and you will know the closeness that you were created to have with Him.

Will you do this, today?

I suppose all this is so simply said…but sometimes simple is exactly what we need.   If there is distance between you and God – you moved.   If there is distance, address yourself to it right now, knowing God wants you to return, knowing He has not moved away from You…He is faithfully calling you back to Himself. 

“For I am the Lord, I do not change;
