This is the message which we have heard
from Him and declare to you, that
God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.
(1 John 1:5)
the Father of lights,
with whom there is no variation
or shadow of turning.
(James 1:17)
God is Perfect Light and I am so glad
God is pure, perfect, unchanging and without fault. In a mixed up and sin cursed world – we need to hear this and see this. It is vital that you understand that God is this – the only pure and perfect thing in this darkened world.
God never changes – He never varies.
God does not have good days and bad days. God does not have days where He is “in His game” and days when “He is off His game”. God, and God alone, is perfect and unchanging. There is so much hope right here. Today, we can approach God without fear or concern that He might not be in the mood for our seeking Him. God never varies!
God has no dark secrets – He has no shadows.
In this sinful world – life is full of shadows. Even the best of people and works of people are clouded and shadowed by human failings. Get to know any one down here – and you will find murky shadows of selfishness, pride and vice. This is one of the reasons that in the body of Christ we are to have a love that “covers a multitude of sins” (1Pet 4:7). The sad reality is that you will always discover that people are imperfect. Yet, hear me clearly – what is true of us, is SO NOT true of God. He has no darkness, no shadows. He is perfect, His character is without fault or darkness.
Today, I just wanted to remind you of God’s pure and perfect character – that He is the Father of Lights – without variation or shadow of darkness. Today, I wanted to invite you to take some time to bask in the brilliance of God’s perfect light. For in truth, such basking in the wonder of God is good, life giving and so very comforting.
For with You is the fountain of life;
In Your light we see light.
(Psalm 36:9)
One other piece of hope? Know this, the darkness is losing and will pass away into the coming brilliance of the light of His return.
Again, a new commandment I write to you, which thing is true in Him and in you, because the darkness is passing away, and the true light is already shining.
(1 John 2:8)
