Hell and Destruction are never full;

So the eyes of man are never satisfied.

(Proverbs 27:20)

Never satisfied….

Those are stark words….and yet very true.  I wonder if you have discovered and know this about yourself as you should – your selfish flesh will never be satisfied.  Never!

Most don’t believe it.

Most believe if they had just a little bit more, a certain amount of money, or a certain thing - then they would be happy.

Most believe that if their life situation changed, a different job or a different place they would be happy.

Most believe that if their relationship status was better – if they had a relationship they don’t have right now, whether marriage, friendship or mentorship – they believe that if they had this they would be happy.

The simple answer to all of that is that it is NOT true…NEVER satisfied is true.

the eyes of man are never satisfied.

Do you believe it about yourself? Do you know that they “wanting” in you is something that will never be satisfied here by obtaining more?

So if we believe this, what do we do?

The answer is found in one word…contentment.   The reality is this: if I cannot be satisfied right now, today, with whatever God gives me – I will not be satisfied if I have more.  Hear that again…if you are not satisfied today….then obtaining more will not satisfy you either.

Great….how do we be content?

be content with such things as you have.

For He Himself has said,

"I will never leave you nor forsake you.""

(Hebrews 13:5)

There are two keys to being content.

The first – Be satisfied in God.  Be content in God – not stuff.   It is “He Himself”, it is in God we find hope.  This is vital and invites us to fix our eyes on God…not on stuff.  We are meant to be satisfied in God and we can be satisfied in Him.

The second – Be satisfied from God.  The key is believing the truth – God is our provider.  What we need, He will provide.  If He does not provide it, we don’t need it.  If He blesses us, it is His desire to do so and we can be thankful and enjoy what He gives, but not seek satisfaction in it.  Enjoyment and satisfaction are different things.   Contentment is possible today if you just see the stuff you have as being from Him.  We cannot be satisfied with stuff….but we can be satisfied in God and from God.

Today, I call you to contentment and away from the eyes that look and are never satisfied.

If you look at things – you will never be satisfied.  If you look at Him, and accept from Him what He has – you can and will be satisfied.

Hell and Destruction are never full;

So the eyes of man are never satisfied.

(Proverbs 27:20)

be content with such things as you have.

For He Himself has said,

"I will never leave you nor forsake you.""

(Hebrews 13:5)
